Privacy Policy
The short version
Our top priority is the privacy and well-being of the children who use Onomi. Onomi works entirely offline. It does not need an internet connection to run, and it does not send anything about how your child plays to the internet — there is no server for it to send that information to. We never seek to collect personal information about your child — not their name, age, birthdate, voice, photo, or anything else — under any circumstances. Everything the app remembers about how your child is progressing stays on your own device, not online, not on any server, not anywhere we can see it. The only information we ever receive from you is what you choose to send us directly by email, and only because you chose to send it.
The longer version
1. Who we are
Onomi (the "App") is made by Wonderspace Labs ("we", "us", "our"). The App is operated by Wonderspace Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus at Michael Karaoli 23, 4000, Limassol, Cyprus (company registration number HE 431938). You can reach us at hello@wonderspacelabs.com.
This policy applies to the App and to any other interactions you have with us (for example, by email).
Because we are established in Cyprus, an EU member state, GDPR Article 27's requirement to designate a separate EU representative does not apply to us — we are already directly subject to GDPR as an EU controller.
2. Who this policy is for
The App is designed for young children (toddlers, roughly ages 2–5) to use under the supervision of a parent or guardian. This Privacy Policy is written for parents and guardians — the adults who download, set up, and remain responsible for the App — not for children, who are not its intended reader.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for, collect, or store any of the following, from your child or from you, at any point in the App:
- Your child's name, age, birthdate, gender, photo, or voice recording
- Your own name, email address, or any other contact detail (unless you voluntarily provide it to us — see Section 7)
- Precise or approximate location data
- Device advertising identifiers, or any identifier used to track you or your child across other apps or websites
- Payment card or billing details (see Section 9)
- Any biometric or health data
- Any information via cookies or similar web-tracking technology — the App is a native mobile application, not a website, and contains no such tracking
We do not use any third-party advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or tracking library of any kind, and there are no advertisements in the App. We do not sell, rent, or trade your or your child's information to anyone, for any reason.
4. The App works offline — information stored on your device only
Onomi does not require an internet connection to work. Once installed, every learning activity, quiz, and narration plays entirely from what's already on your device — there is no point at which the App needs to reach the internet for your child to use it.
To make the App work — remembering where your child left off, which words they've learned, and your own preferences — the App stores a small amount of information locally, on your own device only, using your device's standard local app storage. None of the following is ever transmitted to us, to any server, or to any third party:
- Which learning categories, subcategories, and individual items your child has completed
- Quiz results and completion status
- Which reward "stickers" have been earned, and when
- Your chosen narration language(s) and difficulty setting (see Section 5 below)
- Your Settings preferences (e.g. whether the back button is locked during a learning session, whether celebration effects play)
This data lives only on the device it was created on. It is not backed up to any cloud service we operate (we don't operate one), it is not synced across devices, and we have no way to see it, access it, or identify who it belongs to — it simply never leaves your device.
You can permanently erase all of this local data at any time using Settings → Reset All Progress, or by uninstalling the App.
5. The difficulty setting is not an age record
Settings lets a parent choose a content difficulty level, shown with an age-indicative label (e.g. "2–3 years", "3–4 years", "4–5 years") purely as a guide to help you pick the right content depth. This is a content setting, not a record of your child's actual age. We do not ask for, store, or infer your child's real birthdate or age anywhere in the App, in this setting or otherwise. Selecting "4–5 years" does not tell us — or store anywhere — that your child is any particular age; it only changes which content the local App shows.
6. The Parental Gate
Before reaching Settings, an external link, or exiting an in-progress learning activity, the App asks a short verification question intended to confirm an adult (not a young child) is present — either a simple maths question or a "what year were you born?" question. The answer to this question is used only in that moment, on your device, to unlock the next screen. It is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere, including to us.
7. If you choose to contact us
Settings includes a "Feedback & Support" option with our contact email, hello@wonderspacelabs.com. If you tap or copy this address and choose to email us, that email is sent directly from your own email app and your own email account — we never see it until you choose to send it, and it goes through your own email provider (e.g. Gmail), not through any server or database we operate. Whatever you include in that email (your own email address, your name if you sign it, the content of your message) is received and processed by us only because you chose to send it to us, for the sole purpose of responding to you. We do not use this correspondence for any other purpose, and we do not ask you to include any information about your child in it.
8. Children's privacy — our COPPA and GDPR-K position
We designed the App from the ground up to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation's provisions on children's data (GDPR Article 8, "GDPR-K"), and the Google Play Families Policy. Because we do not collect any personal information from children (see Section 3), the consent and data-collection mechanisms these laws are built around generally have nothing to act on in this App — there is no data collected from your child for you to consent to, access, or ask us to delete. If this ever changes in a future version of the App, we will update this policy first and, where legally required, seek verifiable parental consent before any such collection begins.
9. Payments (if and when offered)
Settings includes a "Full Access" option to unlock additional content. If and when in-app purchases are enabled, all payment processing will be handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We will not receive, see, process, or store your payment card details or billing address — that relationship is between you and Apple/Google, governed by their own privacy policies.
10. No automated decision-making or profiling
The App's "AI Difficulty Adjustment" feature — when enabled — adjusts which content tier is shown based only on how your child is interacting with content already on your device (e.g. repeated correct answers). This happens entirely locally, on your device, is not based on and does not create any personal profile of your child, and has no legal or similarly significant effect on your child within the meaning of GDPR Article 22. It is a content-sequencing feature, not automated profiling.
11. Our legal basis for processing (EEA, UK, and Swiss users)
Because almost nothing described in this policy is "processing" in the GDPR sense — your child's data never leaves your device — this section applies narrowly to the one thing we do process: voluntary support emails (Section 7). We rely on:
- Consent. You choose to email us; nothing is sent without your own affirmative action.
- Legitimate interests. Responding to your enquiry and improving the App based on your feedback, where this does not override your rights.
We do not process any personal data on the basis of a contract, since the App requires no account or sign-up, and we do not process personal data to comply with a legal obligation as a routine matter.
12. Your rights under GDPR (EEA, UK, and Swiss users)
Because we do not hold personal data about you or your child on any server or system we operate, most data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability) have no stored data for us to act on — your child's local App data already stays entirely under your own control via Section 4 above.
For the one category of data we do receive — a voluntary support email you send us (Section 7) — you have the right to:
- Access — ask what we hold (in practice: the emails you've sent us and any reply)
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Erasure — ask us to delete that correspondence
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use it
- Portability — ask us to provide a copy of it to you in a portable format
- Objection — object to our continued processing of it
- Withdraw consent — at any time, with no effect on the lawfulness of anything already done
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@wonderspacelabs.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
13. International data transfers
Because your child's App data never leaves your device, and we do not operate servers that process it, there is no international transfer of your child's data by us. Voluntary support emails you send us are transmitted via your own email provider under its own terms.
14. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to protect any information we do receive (Section 7). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and email in particular is not an inherently encrypted medium — we encourage you not to include sensitive information in your messages to us that you would not be comfortable sending by ordinary email.
15. Data retention
Local App data (Section 4) is retained on your device for as long as the App remains installed, or until you use Settings → Reset All Progress. Voluntary support correspondence (Section 7) is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and resolve your enquiry, after which it is deleted.
16. Third-party app stores
You obtained the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Your use of those stores is governed by Apple's or Google's own privacy policies, which we do not control.
17. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify users within the App. If a change would require your consent under applicable law, we will seek that consent before the change takes effect, rather than relying on continued use alone.
